Tom Ingram climbs to the top of the times late on in second practice

Tom Ingram left it until the final moments of second practice in the British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton to surge to the top of the times.

The EXCLER8 Motorsport driver punched in a best time of 1:15.346 in the closing moments of a frenetic session, which was hit by a brief red flag to retrieve a tyre stack at the chicane.

Alliance Racing duo Dan Rowbottom and Ash Sutton completed the top three as they put themselves to within two and a half tenths of the 2022 champion, with Aron Taylor-Smith maintaining his strong start to the weekend by finishing fourth.

Adam Morgan and Jake Hill were next up, marginally ahead of the lead Toyota of Andrew Watson.

The second Power Maxed Racing Vauxhall Astra of Mikey Doble underlined their speed in eighth, while Dan Cammish and Tom Chilton completed the top ten.

Qualifying is scheduled to begin at 15:25.
