Mikael Karlsson heads Lukas Sundahl in second Gothenburg test
Mikael Karlsson topped the second and final test session of the first STCC season opener day in Gothenburg, a session held in dry conditions just before a heavy rain shower hit the city circuit.
The Brink Motorsport driver set a total time of 2:18.818 over four laps to beat Exion Racing BMW driver and multiple Porsche champion Lukas Sundahl by two tenths of a second.
Jimmy Eriksson made it two Brink Motorsport Teslas in the top three, 0.954 seconds from the best total time of Karlsson.
Viktor Gustavsson, who topped the first session, was third fastest in this session, just below a second from the top time.
Gustavsson’s Exion Racing team-mate Ola Nilsson was fifth fastest ahead of Tobias Brink (Tesla), who was one of the first drivers to brush the wall during his run, albeit with only light cosmetic damage to his Model 3.
2022 champion Robert Dahlgren was seventh fastest with his PWR Racing team-mate Anton Marklund rounding off the top eight.
Qualifying is next up for the STCC field, starting at 13:30 CEST, with a very wet track expected.
