Jake Hill splashes to second Snetterton win despite time penalty

Jake Hill splashed his way to a second win of the day in the British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton, despite being hit by a ten-second time penalty.

The West Surrey Racing doubled his tally in Norfolk in formidable fashion as he claimed yet another lights-to-flag victory ahead of Dan Cammish and Josh Cook.

A huge storm had descended on the circuit prior to the original start time which led to delay as water was removed from a number of corners. With the sun making an appearance during the clear up, tyre strategy soon came into play and several cars dived for the pit lane for slicks.

Out front, Hill hit the front however he and team-mate Bobby Thompson were hit by time penalties for moving before the lights went out. Tasked with building up an unassailable lead, the rear-wheel-drive ace got his head down and soon began to edge away from the chasing pack, ultimately winning by more than 15 seconds.

Behind, Andrew Watson initially held runner-up laurels before a second wave of rain hit the circuit, and a slide through Brundle bounced him over the kerb and down the order. That promoted Cammish and Cook to the remaining spots on the rostrum.

Tom Chilton and Mikey Doble were also sublime in the wet conditions to round out the top five whilst Watson recovered to sixth and Thompson seventh after his penalty was applied. Concluding the top ten was Aiden Moffat, Sam Osborne and Daryl Deleon.

Further down the order, Aron Taylor-Smith finished as the lead slick-shod car in 12th while Tom Ingram, Colin Turkington and Ash Sutton – who exited the circuit late on – all struggled.

Race three is scheduled to begin at 17:25.
