Brad Hutchison wins from eighth in Race 2 at Snetterton
Brad Hutchison won the second TCR UK race at Snetterton from eighth on the grid ahead of Carl Boardley and Adam Shepherd.
Mark Smith (Cupra) started from the reversed grid pole position but was beaten into Turn 1 by a fast-starting William Beech (Volkswagen) from fourth on the grid.
And things got even worse for Smith who tangled with Luke Sargeant (Cupra) heading to Turn 2, sending them both off the track and down the order.
There was further contact on the first lap as Callum Newsham (Hyundai) went into the back of Shepherd, resulting in front-end damage to Newsham while both were able to continue.
Beech was unable to keep the lead before the end of the first lap, making a mistake and went wide which allowed Hutchinson to slip past and claim the lead.
Beech continued to drop down the order, leaving the fight for second place between Boardley, Shepherd and Joe Marshall (Audi).
Shepherd managed to get past Boardley for second on the second lap, only for Boardley to repass with some contact a corner later.
Marshall gained on the duo and was right on the tail of Shepherd’s Cupra with six minutes left of the race. But the positions remained the same, with Hutchison winning the race close to four seconds ahead of Boardley, Shepherd and Marshall.
Newsham was fifth while Darron Lewis (Hyundai) rounded off the top six.
The final race of the weekend starts at 17:40 local time/18:40 CEST where Shepherd will start from pole ahead of Marshall and Boardley.
