Colin Turkington hails ‘amazing day’ at Brands Hatch
Colin Turkington was left over the moon after enjoying a near-perfect weekend in the British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch where he claimed pole position and two wins.
The Team BMW driver was in superlative form all weekend as he blitzed the competition to claim pole position in qualifying, before then going on to score a brace of lights-to-flag victories.
Turkington capped off a fine day around the Indy circuit by progressing from 11th to eighth in the finale, which means he nows heads to Snetterton in less than two weeks’ time trailing Ash Sutton by two points in the overall standings.
“It’s been an amazing day,” said Turkington. “Two wins doesn’t come along too often, especially with the BTCC as competitive as it is, but all credit to Team BMW because my car was epic all weekend from qualifying and through the three races.
“Even the eighth place in Race Three was good and I leave here as the top scorer. Second place in the championship sounds really good, but already you look towards Snetterton and know how hard it’s going to be to have less hybrid use through qualifying and Race One.
“For now, I’m going to celebrate with the team and just enjoy what’s been a fantastic weekend.”
