Esteban Guerrieri tops joint FIA TCR World Tour and TCR Europe test at Vallelunga

Honda driver Esteban Guerrieri topped the joint FIA TCR World Tour and TCR Europe test day at Vallelunga.

The GOAT Racing driver set his fastest lap of 1:39.141 during the dry morning session, more than six tenths faster than his closest rival in the form of Volcano Motorsport driver John Fillipi.

Filippi did however top the afternoon session which started wet but dried up towards the end.

Spaniard Mikel Azcona headed his BRC Hyundai team-mates Néstor Girolami and Norbert Michelisz in positions three, four and five during the morning session.

Local hero Nicola Baldan was fastest of the TCR Europe drivers in sixth place, over a second from the top time.

The Audi driver was just 0.065 seconds faster than series rival Viktor Andersson who arrived to Vallelunga fresh from his TCR UK debut win last weekend.

Aurelien Comte was fastest of the new Cupra León VZ TCR drivers in eighth position, 1.190 seconds from Guerrieri.

The afternoon session saw the Hyundai duo of Azcona and Néstor Girolami coming closest to Filippi, 0.018 and 0.311 seconds behind respectively.

Néstor’s brother Franco Girolami, who races a Cupra in TCR Europe for Monlau Motorsport, was fourth fastest ahead of Dusan Borkovic (Honda).

Santiago Urrutia was fastest of the Lynk & Co Cyan Racing drivers in sixth position, six tenths from the fastest afternoon session time.

Next up is the first TCR Europe free practice session at 10:30 CEST on Friday, followed by the first TCR World Tour practice session at 11:40 CEST.
