Monlau Motorsport joins TCR Europe grid with new Cupra

The Monlau Motorsport team will join the TCR Europe grid this season with a two-car line-up including former series champion Franco Girolami.

Girolami, who won the title in 2022 before moving to TCR Italy last season, will be joined by Viktor Davidovski as the Spanish outfit introduces the new Cupra Leon VZ TCR into the series.

The VZ TCR is being introduced this year as an upgrade to the Leon Competición TCR, which Monlau ran in the TCR Spain pre-season series for Eric Gené.

Girolami has previously raced in Honda and Audi machinery during his TCR career to date, as has Davidovski who joins the team after two years with Comtoyou in the European series.

“After winning the title in 2022 and then becoming Italian champion last year, it is an honour to be returning to such a strong championship,” Girolami said.

“The Cupra Leon VZ is a new car to me, just like Team Monlau, but the car and team is a strong combination and I’m confident that we can have a great 2024 season.”
