TCR Europe reveals drastically different 2024 schedule

Organisers of the TCR Europe series have revealed a drastically different calendar for the 2024 season, with just one circuit from 2023 retaining a slot on the schedule.

The series will run over a slightly shorter schedule of six events which will be held between April and September, with Spa being the only venue to return from those used this year.

That means Portimão, Pau, Hungaroring, Paul Ricard, Monza and Catalunya are no longer on the schedule.

Instead, the season will kick off at Vallelunga in late April before heading for Zolder, with the Salzburgring and Spa hosting events before the summer break – the latter as a support for the Funcup 25 Hours.

Brno and Valencia then round out the campaign with September dates.

“We decided to reduce the schedule from seven to six events and compact them over five months for two main reasons,” series promoter Paulo Ferreira said.

“The first one is to reduce the running costs and the second is to allow our competitors to make occasional appearances in other TCR events, such as the TCR World Ranking Final in Portimão or the FIA Motor Sport Games in Valencia.”

The format remains the same as in 2023, with two free practice sessions, a two-part qualifying session and then two races – with the top ten from qualifying reversed on the race two grid.

An additional Gen-1 Trophy has been added to the list of awards available.
