BRC Hyundai fined for scraping tyres

BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse has been fined for “excessively cleaning and scraping” tyres between the second and third TCR World Tour races at the Mount Panorama Circuit.

The stewards found that four tyres from Norbert Michelisz’ and Mikel Azcona’s cars had been excessively cleaned and handed the Hyundai team a 2000 AUD fine.

The decision read:

“Having considered all evidence from the TCR Technical Delegate, the Stewards have found no evidence of the team using electrical and/or mechanical tools. However, the four tyres that were excessively cleaned using a scraper and beyond the permissible tolerance allowed in the Sporting Regulations.”
