Thed Björk heads Cyan Racing 1-2-3-4 in red-flagged first Sydney practice
Thed Björk headed a dominant Lynk & Co Cyan Racing 1-2-3-4 in the first free practice session of the combined TCR World Tour and TCR Australia weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park, a session which was red-flagged once.
The Swede lapped the Australian circuit in 1:35.2179, beating team-mate Yann Ehrlacher by 0.0733 while Santiago Urrutia was third and Ma Qing Hua fourth.
The red flags came out towards the end of the session as GRM Peugeot driver Kody Garland went off at Turn 1 with a suspected mechanical failure, sustaining front-end damage.
The session was restarted with three minutes left on the clock.
Hyundai driver Mikel Azcona was fifth fastest, 0.2826 seconds from the top time, with the Comtoyou Audi duo of Frédéric Vervisch and Rob Huff in positions six and seven.
Lynk & Co driver Tom Oliphant was fastest of the TCR Australia drivers in eighth position, 0.6852 seconds from Björk’s time.
Will Brown (Audi) and Tony D’Alberto (Honda) rounded off the top ten, seven and nine tenths of a second behind respectively.
