TCR South America confirms switch to Cascavel for season finale
The TCR South America organisers have announced that the Brazilian track of Cascavel in Paraná will host the last round of the 2023 season, scheduled for the 2-3 of December.
The season finale was originally due to take place at the Brasilia Autodrom, but the renovation works to upgrade the track and bring it to international standards haven’t been completed in time for the last race of the season.
“We waited as long as we could and now we understand that the timeframe of the works will not allow us to compete in Brasilia,” said Fernando Julianelli, Vicar – Stock Car Brazil director.
“So we had to search for an option for 2023. It was a pity, as we were all very excited about the return of that track. But next year, if everything everything goes as well as we hope, we will definitely be there.”
The TCR South America is headed for a all-Brazilian season end, with the next round at Velocitta on the 21-22 of October and later the finale at Cascavel.
Squadra Martino’s Ignacio Montenegro (Honda) leads the championship after the eighth round of the season last weekend at Velopark with 406 points, 23 ahead of Bernardo Llaver (Toyota) and 80 over Juan Manuel Casella (Honda).
