Thed Björk handed post-race penalty for contact with Norbert Michelisz

Thed Björk has been handed a post-race penalty of five seconds for contact with Norbert Michelisz in the second and final TCR World Tour race of the weekend in Uruguay.

The two were involved in a tough scrap for sixth position which intensified as Néstor Girolami made contact with Michelisz in the final corner towards the end of the race.

This allowed Björk to head on the inside of the two out onto the main straight and the Lynk & Co driver then made contact with Hyundai’s Michelisz several times on the straight.

The contact saw Björk climbing to sixth ahead of his Cyan Racing team-mate Santiago Urrutia in seventh while Michelisz dropped to eighth and Girolami ninth.

The penalty drops Björk from sixth to ninth, elevating Michelisz to seventh ahead of Girolami.
