Jake Hill delighted by Knockhill double

Jake Hill admitted his delight at securing a double win at Knockhill for the second successive season as the WSR racer moved up to third in the BTCC standings.

Hill had suffered a major scare in qualifying when he went off the road on the run to the chicane during Q1, but the team was able to ensure his car was fixed to allow him to make it through to the top ten showdown before qualifying in third spot.

The Laser Tools-backed racer fought hard in tough conditions to take second spot in race one before inheriting victory from Tom Ingram after he was excluded, and then saw off the challenge of Ash Sutton to double up in race two.

Race three however would see Hill caught out on standing water at the hairpin, resulting in contact with team-mate Stephen Jelley that earned him a three place grid penalty for the next event at Donington Park.

Hill would salvage two points from the race to end up 50 points down on Sutton in the standings.

“After all the drama in qualifying, race day was absolutely amazing, chaotic and disappointing all in one!” he said. “To claim the victories in races one and two felt fantastic, and I was particularly happy with how we handled ourselves in race two under a lot of pressure.

“Race three was a bit of a mess all-round the grid and I’m sorry to the team and my WSR-stablemate Stephen as he looked on for a strong result. I owe so much to the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport team and my WSR crew this weekend.

“The two victories today were made possible by their efforts on Saturday, and I am pleased to have been able to thank them in the best possible way.”
