Jake Hill praises team for qualifying recovery
Jake Hill was full of praise for his WSR team after scoring a place on the second row of the grid in BTCC qualifying at Knockhill.
The Laser Tools Racing-backed BMW sustained damage in the early part of Q1 when Hill ran off track at the Chicane, resulting in him needing to have a new undertray fitted as the clock ticked down.
Hill was able to get back on track to top Q1 and make it through to the top ten shootout, where he ended up third quickest behind Ash Sutton and Josh Cook with a lap just 0.029s off the pace.
“I’m not happy with the lap, but then again, I thought the session was all over at one point,” he said. “I threw it off at the end of my first run in Q1 and ripped the floor off but luckily there was enough of the front bumper for the team to bolt something on and get me back out.
“Huge credit to them as it looked like we’d have been down the order, so to go out get third is great, even if I feel we could have had pole. We’re ready to fight and it would be nice to replicate the two wins and a second we scored last year, but to get a podium would be awesome.”
