Jake Hill hits the front in second session at Knockhill

Jake Hill posted the quickest time of the weekend so far to lead the second BTCC practice session at Knockhill.

The WSR driver lapped just under half a second quicker than Ricky Collard during the opening session of the weekend to head the way, with defending champion Tom Ingram slotting into second spot.

Ingram hadn’t featured at the sharp end in the first session, which saw limited running due to multiple red flags, but would end up just 0.169s off the pace, with Josh Cook again impressing for One Motorsport to line up in third.

Dan Cammish was fourth ahead of team-mate Ash Sutton, who lost time to a damper issue, with the top six rounded out by Andrew Watson’s Vauxhall.

Another solid session for his PMR team saw partner Aron Taylor-Smith go seventh, with Collard, Ronan Pearson and Rory Butcher rounding out the top ten.

The other Toyota of George Gamble failed to make it on track as the team worked on an issue, with the Hyundai of Nick Halstead undergoing a gearbox change.

Having missed FP1, Halstead is now set to go into qualifying without a single lap under his belt.
