Esteban Guerrieri to join TCR World Tour in South America
Esteban Guerrieri will make his debut in the TCR World Tour when the series heads to South America later this month for the latest two events on the schedule.
Following the demise of the World Touring Car Cup, Guerrieri had moved to the World Endurance Championship with the Vanwall team but will make a return to touring car competition for the events at El Pinar in Uruguay and then a week later at San Luis in his native Argentina.
Guerrieri will be at the wheel of a Toyota Corolla TCR being run by the new Bratton Tito Bessone Team, with the team then set to bring in an additional driver to pilot the car for the remainder of the TCR South America season.
“I am very excited about this nice challenge,” Guerrieri said. “I haven’t been in a TCR car for several months, but having so much experience and having done so many races, I’m excited to return to the international level with this type of car – and what better way to do it in this format than with TCR South America and with all the World Cup teams.
“I’m going to Argentina to do a test day because the car is practically new and there we’ll get to work together with [technical chief] Cristian Galasso and [team manager] Tito Bessone to do our best.
“I am very grateful to [team owner] Diego Gutierrez and Tito Bessone who have launched this beautiful project, and we are going to work hard to make it successful.”
