Tom Ingram paces second practice

Tom Ingram emerged as the man to beat in second practice ahead of the latest rounds of the BTCC season at Croft.

The defending champion had been in the lower half of the timing screens in the weekend’s opening session but showed the true pace of his Hyundai as he put in a late lap three-tenths of a second quicker than the lap Josh Cook had set to lead FP1.

That put Ingram clear of Dan Cammish by just over a tenth of a second, with the NAPA Racing UK man only 0.031s up on Cook – who improved on his earlier time but had to settle for third.

Jake Hill was the best of the rear-wheel drive cars as he again set the fourth quickest time in his BMW, with team-mates Stephen Jelley and Colin Turkington behind to round out the top six.

Dan Lloyd once again showed encouraging pace in his Cupra to go seventh fastest, with the top ten rounded out by Adam Morgan, Rory Butcher and points leader Ash Sutton.

Having missed FP1, series newcomer Daryl DeLeon was able to complete 13 laps in his Team HARD Cupra and propped up the times with Nic Hamilton set to sit out the remainder of the weekend to leave a 26 car grid.
