Two-day Sydney event to run under lights

The first of two TCR World Tour events alongside TCR Australia later this season will run under lights after a two-day schedule was revealed for the meeting at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Track action will take place across Friday 3 and Saturday 4 November, with practice and qualifying on Friday being followed by race one under lights that evening.

Saturday will then see races two and three take place, with one held in late afternoon and the other once darkness has fallen.

The decision to run the event to a two-day format will then provide teams with additional time to head from Sydney to Bathurst for the second Australian event a week later.

“We’ve worked closely with the Australian Racing Drivers’ Club to settle on the best possible format for this event and make it as fan-friendly as possible,” Liam Curkpatrick, the CEO of TCR Australia promoter Australian Racing Group, said.

“The ARSC and WSC, promoters of the TCR World Tour, have been great to work with as we try to make the biggest impact possible for the first TCR World Tour round on Aussie soil.

“Having all the action condensed across two days works perfectly and the ability to use Sydney Motorsport Park’s fantastic lighting means we can run in prime-time both nights, which works brilliantly for spectators and for TV audiences here and around the world.”
