Will Powell ‘dismissed from all’ One Motorsport roles
One Motorsport has confirmed that Will Powell has been ‘dismissed from the team in all roles’ and will not contest the remainder of the 2023 BTCC season.
Powell joined the Honda squad back in February and although the initial announcement only referred to him taking up the role of commercial and marketing director, he would later be announced as the third driver in the team’s three-car line-up alongside Josh Cook and Aiden Moffat, although a tricky campaign has seen him fail to score a point with a best result of 18th.
Rumours in the lead-up to the summer break had suggested that Powell’s race seat could be at risk, but a short statement from the team revealed that the 38-year-old is now no longer involved with the team in any capacity having been removed from his roles late last month.
Who replaces him in both his on and off-track positions has yet to be confirmed.
“One Motorsport can today (13th July) announce that as of the 30th June 2023, it has dismissed Will Powell from the team in all commercial and driver roles,” the statement read.
“No further comment can be made at this time.
“The team will announce a replacement driver for the remainder of the current Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship campaign in due course.”
