Marco Butti claims pole position in hot conditions at Mugello

Marco Butti of Target Competition claimed the pole position for the fourth round of the 2023 TCR Italy season at Mugello, a session marked by hot temperatures despite the evening schedule.

Butti (Hyundai) was the first of the front runners to establish a reference time, climbing to the top after six minutes into the session. Franco Girolami, driving an Audi RS 3 LMS from Aikoa Racing, was second after his first flying lap.

Niels Langeveld of MM Motorsport Honda climbed to second place half-way through the session, followed by team-mate Ruben Volt.

Butti held the edge in the end to take the pole position ahead of Langeveld and Comte, with Sergio López Bolotín (Audi) taking the fourth spot on the grid.

Jelmini was fifth ahead of Cesare Brusa of Target Competition and Rubén Fernández, driving an Audi RS 3 LMS from Autoclub RC2 Valles.

Junui Park (Hyundai) was eighth ahead of Girolami, with Volt completing the top ten, seven-tenths off the pole position time.

The TCR Italy field returns to the track for Race 1 at 12:50 CEST on Saturday.
