Darwin results trigger parity review

Supercars has confirmed that a parity review between the Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang is to take place following the latest round of the season in Darwin.

The Camaro maintained a 100 per cent winning record in 2023, whilst in the second race of the weekend, the leading nine drivers were all at the wheel of the Chevrolet.

It led to further questions over parity in the series, with the championship confirming that a review has been triggered by the parity review system written into the regulations.

That system analyses lap times across a set number of races to explore any disparities, with a set threshold that ‘must be achieved consistently over either five consecutive races or five of eight championship races’.

With that having now happened in Darwin, a further parity review will now take place.

“The parity review system has been a foundation of the parity assessment throughout the championship over many years,” series CEO Shane Howard said.

“Now that a review has been triggered, we have commenced the nominated process.

“Supercars have met and are working with both Homologating Teams to formulate appropriate recommendations for a parity adjustment.”
