Nicolai Sylvest and Silas Rytter claim Ring Djursland victories
Nicolai Sylvest and Silas Rytter were victorious in the TCR Denmark race weekend at Ring Djursland while reigning champion Kasper Jensen claimed the championship lead.
The first race saw Sylvest starting from pole position and heading the field from lights to flag.
Auto Lounge Racing driver Kevin Engman started second but was handed a penalty round for jumping the start, dropping him one place behind Honda driver Jensen.
Former F1 driver Jan Magnussen started from the back of the grid following a technical issue during qualifying and made his way up through the field to cross the finishing line in seventh.
But disaster struck the Cupra driver again as he was disqualified after the race for not having enough fuel for a sample.
Sylvest won the first race ahead of Jensen and Engman, while Gustav Birch (Honda) and Mike Halder (Audi) rounded off the top five.
Race 2
The second race saw Marius Solberg Hansen starting from the reversed grid pole position to claim the lead.
But Cupra driver Michael Markussen and Rytter soon made their way past the Norwegian driver who fell down to third.
Insight Racing driver Rytter then made the move for the lead on the tenth lap to claim his first TCR Denmark win.
Markussen had to settle for second ahead of Solberg Hansen, with the Halder siblings Mike and Michelle in positions four and five.
Magnussen once again fought his way from the back of the grid to finish seventh.
Race 3
The third and final race had Hyundai driver Rytter starting from pole position ahead of Sylvest.
The two fought for the lead at the start, only for GMB Motorsport driver Jensen to capitalise on the squabble to snatch second place.
The 17-year-old Rytter won the race ahead of Jensen, with Sylvest in third and a charging Magnussen crossing the finishing line in an impressive fourth place.
Mike Halder was fifth and Markussen sixth.
Jensen heads the standings on 91 points while Engman and Mike Halder are sharing second place on 90 points.
The next TCR Denmark race will take place at Falkenberg in Sweden on July 8-9.
