Radical changes boost Jake Hill
Jake Hill admitted that ‘radical changes’ to the set-up on his BMW had paid dividends after he grabbed a front-row start in BTCC qualifying at Oulton Park.
Hill snared his best qualifying result of the campaign with a strong run in Q2 that saw him emerge as the closest rival to current championship leader Ash Sutton.
The WSR driver has yet to score victory this season and admitted that the start of race one could be key to his chances.
“The start is going to be where it all is,” he said. “I just need to get him [Sutton] off the line, lead into turn one and it’s job done – easy as that!
“I’m really pleased to have qualified on the front row and it was a bit of a surprise. We went with a radical set-up on the car and it seems to be working. The car came alive in qualifying and it’s great to have secured second spot.
“Now, the goal is to try and make sure we challenge Ash tomorrow.”
