Nicolai Sylvest beats Kevin Engman by 0.006s to Ring Djursland pole
Nicolai Sylvest put his Cupra León Competición on pole position for the first TCR Denmark race at Ring Djursland, beating Swedish driver Kevin Engman (Audi) by just 0.006 seconds.
Gustav Birch made it three different manufacturers in the top three of the very close qualifying session by putting his GMB Motorsport prepared Honda Civic Type R TCR in third spot on the grid, 0.034 seconds from pole.
Brich’s team-mate and reigning champion Kasper Jensen claimed position four on the grid, one tenth from pole.
Philip Lindberg was fifth ahead of TPR Motorsport driver Mike Halder (Audi) and Silas Rytter (Hyundai), who was just 0.142 seconds from pole sitter Sylvest.
Michelle Halder (Honda) was eighth fastest for TRP Motorsport while Rene Povlsen and Christian Skaar rounded off the top ten.
Disaster struck championship leader Jan Magnussen who was unable to complete a full lap in the first qualifying session due to an ECU issue, meaning he will start last in the first race which starts at 11:20 CEST tomorrow.
