Audi could terminate customer racing division for 2024
Audi is reported to be in the process of shutting down its customer racing division for 2024 due to its Formula 1 commitment, according to Motorsport-Total.
Audi Sport Customer Racing currently oversees a number of programmes, such as the Audi RS 3 LMS TCR and Audi R8 LMS GT3, as well as 14 factory drivers, including TCR World Tour driver Frédéric Vervisch.
When asked for a comment, an Audi Sport Customer Racing spokesman replied to Motorsport-Total:
“The motorsport program in customer racing for 2023 has been decided and will also be carried out as follows: 24 Hours of Nürburgring, 24 Hours of Spa, GT World Challenge, TCR World Tour, DTM.
“We are currently discussing the further development of customer racing and the Dakar project. As soon as decisions have been made, we will inform our teams and partners.”
The Audi Customer Racing division consists of around 80 employees today.
