La Pedrera set to host South American event
The José Carlos Bassi International Autodrome is set to appear on the TCR World Tour schedule for the 2023 season, according to reports in South America.
Two rounds of the World Tour will run alongside TCR South America, with events at the El Pinar circuit in Uruguay in mid-August being followed by a round in Argentina a week later.
Although it was known that the event in Argentina would take place in the province of San Luis, the circuit itself hasn’t been confirmed – with both the Autódromo Rosendo Hernández and the Potrero de los Funes Circuit being mentioned as possible options.
However, according to a report from Campeones, the meeting will instead run at the José Carlos Bassi International Autodrome in the city of Villa Mercedes – around 90km from San Luis itself.
Also known as La Pedrera after the park in which it is located, the circuit runs to a length of just under 4.4km and features a total of 18 corners, with the main straight being 30 metres wide.
Should the event be officially confirmed, it will mark the first time TCR has raced at the circuit.
