Darelle Wilson returns with his Vauxhall Astra for 2023 TCR UK season
Darelle Wilson has confirmed that he will continue to race his Vauxhall Astra in the TCR UK series this season.
Wilson first raced the car back in 2018 when the series was launched and has competed in races in every season since then, taking a maiden win at Castle Combe in 2021 when TCR was part of the Touring Car Trophy.
After a tough 2022 campaign that saw him only secure five finishes from the 15-race season, Wilson will hope to benefit from a number of changes made to the Astra over the winter as he bids to try and take the fight to the various new cars joining the grid this year.
The team could also add a second Astra to the grid, with a car available for use should there be interest in joining the series.
“I’m excited to get back in the car and to show that we’ve moved on from last season, where as a team, we struggled with several issues on the car,” he said. “The extra support from my sponsors is also a boost as this means we can put more resources into our 2023 season.
“The championship has moved on so much since I competed in the first season back in 2018 and to see the arrival of the new driver’s teams and second-generation cars is great.
“However, I know I can extract the best out of the Astra and I look forward to a better 2023 season in TCR UK.”
