TCR UK reveals new £75,000 prize fund
Organisers of the TCR UK series have announced the introduction of a new £75,000 prize fund that will be available to drivers over the course of the 2023 season.
Cash prizes will be handed out at each of the seven planned race meetings, as well as at the end of the season to drivers in both the overall championship and the Goodyear Diamond Trophy for drivers aged over 40.
A prize will also be available to the winner of the Tom Walker Memorial Trophy, named after the late Volkswagen Cup racer.
At each race meeting, the driver scoring pole position will take £1,000 with the top three in race one being awarded £1,500, £1,000 and £500 respectively. Prizes to the top three in the reverse grid race will be handed out on a £750, £500 and £250 basis, with the same prizes being used for the final race of the Knockhill triple-header.
When the season comes to an end, the overall champion will take home £15,000, with the runner-up securing £10,000 and third place taking £5,000. The Diamond Trophy and Tom Walker Memorial winners will both earn £2,500.
Carless Racing Fuels will also support an additional award for the ‘TCR Driver of the Day’, who will win a 54 litre keg of control race fuel.
“It’s fantastic for us to be able to offer such a brilliant incentive for the drivers for the 2023 season, which really sets us apart from other championships in the UK,” championship manager Ash Gallagher said.
“It’s so rare in modern motorsport that championships are able to offer actual cash prizes for competitors, as opposed to credit towards something, so we are very excited to be able to add this extra element to the championship and be able to give something back.”
