Matthew Wilson continues with JW Bird

Matthew Wilson has confirmed that he will continue to race in the TCR UK series for a second season in 2023 after extending his deal with JW Bird Motorsport.

Having previously raced with the team in the MINI CHALLENGE, Wilson moved to TCR last season with the first Cupra Leon Competición TCR to appear in the series, scoring a best finish of seventh at Oulton Park.

It helped him to finish twelfth in the championship standings, with Wilson now returning as part of a multi-car JW Bird entry alongside George Jaxon.



“It’s great to be able to confirm my plans for 2023 and to return to TCR UK, especially as the championship has moved up another level over the winter,” he said. “Last year was a learning year for me and the team with the car, so now that we have that data and experience behind us, we’re looking to improve in our second season together and move forward.

“I showed good pace in the car last year and with the added benefit of having a team-mate this year, we can work together to improve the performance of the car and show what the CUPRA Leon Competición TCR can really do in TCR UK.”
