WSC introduces TCR World Ranking system
The WSC Group, the TCR rights holders, has introduced a TCR World Ranking system for drivers in TCR championships around the world.
“With so many championships and so many drivers all racing in TCR, it made absolute sense to launch the TCR World Ranking. This is inspired by other popular sports, but one that hasn’t been used in motorsport until now,” said WSC Group president Marcello Lotti.
“With over 1,100 cars built to its technical regulations, TCR is one of the most successful motorsport concepts ever, and the scale and level of competition in TCR is immense – so I conceived the TCR World Ranking as a way to highlight the performances of the great talent we see competing in TCR machinery.”
The race results of all drivers taking part in TCR sanctioned events from January 2021 is included in the calculations for the ranking which is divided into five categories; international, regional, national, endurance, and other sprint races.
The ranking is set by two coefficients, the series they took part in and the number of entries, with fields of 20 cars or more scoring the most.
The current ranking is based on the last 20 race results, with drivers that haven’t raced for 30 weeks getting their oldest results removed until they return to competition.
The current list includes 928 drivers and can be accessed here: www.tcr-worldranking.com
