Jake Hill focused on ‘one goal’ ahead of decider

Jake Hill insists his full focus is on trying to bring home the BTCC title heading into the 2022 season finale at Brands Hatch this weekend.

Hill arrives at his home circuit sitting second in the championship standings, just five points down on current leader Ash Sutton.

Tom Ingram and WSR team-mate Colin Turkington are also in the mix going into the final three races of the campaign and Hill said he felt excited about what was to come.

“Here we are, the final round of the season and we have one goal – to win the British Touring Car Championship!” he said. “It’s been an incredible season and I’m so thankful for all of the support I have received this year – from the team, the sponsors, my family and all of the fans.

“Coming to my home race, and favourite circuit, Brands Hatch GP, I couldn’t pick a better venue for the finale and I’m extremely motivated, and excited, for what lies ahead.”

WSR boss Dick Bennetts admitted he was proud to have two drivers still in the mix for top honours, with the BMW squad also looking to wrap up the manufacturers’ and teams’ titles.

“For the seventh year in a row we reach the final round of the BTCC with a chance of winning at least one of the major championship titles, and potentially all three of the,” he said. “That’s a very satisfying achievement and something everybody at WSR should be extremely proud of.

“The BMW has been a strong car at every circuit we’ve been to this year – as 24 podiums from 27 races so far has shown – but now comes the really hard bit; to get that final push to get ourselves over the line as title winners. It’s not the first time we’ve had two drivers in title contention at the final round, or the first time we’re having to come from behind.

“We’ll make use of all the experience we’ve gained to give Jake, Colin, Stephen [Jelley], BMW and ourselves the best possible chance of becoming champions. May the best driver win.”
