Tobias Brink wins at Mantorp as Robert Dahlgren claims title
Tobias Brink scored a lights-to-flag victory in Saturday’s second race at the STCC TCR Scandinavia finale, as Robert Dahlgren was crowned champion.
Brink led a largely undramatic encounter from start to finish, heading home Race 1 winner Oliver Söderström in an Audi 1-2 with Mattias Andersson – competing in his 296th STCC race – taking third in his Lynk & Co.
The main story played out behind the leading trio, however, as Dahlgren drove a solid race to fourth – enough to hand him his fourth STCC championship title.
Dahlgren had run second in the opening stages of the race, but played a safe hand and allowed both Söderström and Andersson past without too much resistance knowing a single point was all he needed to wrap up the title.
The only major incident in the race came on the opening lap, when Christian Skaar ran off the track on the exit of Turn 1 and nearly beached his Audi in the gravel traps. He eventually managed to continue, however.
The final race of the weekend, and of the 2022 campaign, is scheduled for 15.43 CEST.
