Bruno Spengler hit with points penalty for photo finish incident with Jordi Gené
Romeo Ferraris driver Bruno Spengler has been penalised for his move to defend from Cupra EKS’ Jordi Gené during the Pool furious semi final 2 at the Sachsenring, with the duo crossing the finishing line separated by just 0.001 seconds.
Spengler was in second place and came under fire from Gené on the last lap as the Canadian had used all of his power-up.
As both cars entered the main straight on the last lap, Gené activated his power up, but Spengler swerved from side to side to block the Cupra e-Racer driver. Both cars reached the finish line side-by-side, with Gené gaining second place by just one-thousandth of a second.
The stewards deemed that Spengler had changed direction too many times and penalised the Canadian with a reduction of five championship points.
