Jessica Bäckman joins Comtoyou Racing for TCR Germany season end

Jessica Bäckman has joined Comtoyou Racing ahead of the two final TCR Germany race weekends following her split with ROJA Motorsport.

The Swede will drive a new generation Audi RS 3 LMS for the Belgian team, starting this weekend at the Lausitzring for the penultimate round.

“I’m looking forward to race again, it will be exciting to try out an Audi and drive for the experienced team Comtoyou Racing for the first time, as well as learn a completely new track. It will be an exciting weekend,” said Bäckman.

Bäckman announced her split with ROJA Motorsport earlier this month after a troublesome race weekend at the Lausitzring.

“After the Lausitzring round, we chose to go our separate ways with ROJA Motorsport,” said Bäckman.

“We have achieved great results together but now I am looking forward to new challenges. I’m very happy to announce that I will be driving for Comtoyou Racing for the remaining two race weekends in the series. It will be very exciting but at the same time a real challenge considering the limited preparations, but a challenge I’m looking forward to.”

The Swede is placed second overall, trailing Honda driver Martin Jensen by 71 points.

“I’m happy to welcome Jessica into our team. Since few years back we were fighting each other in TCR Europe, and she was always a difficult one to beat,” said Francois Verbist, team manager of Comtoyou Racing.

“It’s never easy to jump into a championship during the year but I am sure with her speed and our knowledge of the Audi RS 3 LMS II we have a competitive line up.”
