Ash Sutton seeks to add to win tally

Ash Sutton says he is keen to add to his recent race wins as the BTCC returns to Thruxton for round eight this weekend.

Sutton has grabbed race three honours in the last two meetings in his NAPA Racing backed Ford Focus to stay in contention for a third successive title.

Currently sitting fourth in the standings, Sutton will hope to replicate the strong form he showed on the first trip to Thruxton earlier in the season to keep his championship bid on track.

“I’m looking forward to heading to Thruxton this weekend!” he said. “We’re coming off the back of two wins in as many race weekends so confidence is high and everyone at NAPA Racing UK is pushing so hard.

“We were strong at Thruxton earlier in the year and came away with a hat-trick of podium finishes so I’m feeling confident, especially as we have really moved the car on since then. We’re at a critical point in the season now and we’ve got a little ground to make up so it’ll be maximum attack!”

Team-mate Dan Cammish will also be eager to impress having endured more misfortune at Snetterton – leaving him still chasing a first win of 2022.

“I’m really looking forward to heading back to Thruxton this weekend, we were fast there earlier in the season and it is a track I’ve always gone well at and really enjoy,” he said. “We had some good speed at Snetterton and should’ve come away with much more than we did, but as has been the story this year it didn’t work out for us due to factors out of our control.

“We need a big, consistent weekend and that’s the absolute focus. I’m determined to be back on the podium and get some momentum.”
