Didrik Esbjug: “This has been our best weekend so far”
Independent Honda driver Didrik Esbjug scored his so far best STCC TCR Scandinavia result in the final Gelleråsen Arena reversed grid race with fourth.
“This has been a really good weekend for us and we have made solid progress,” said Esbjug.
The Norwegian youngster started the reversed grid race from second place and lost two positions early in the race.
The last part of the race saw Esbjug, son to former STCC independent champion Kim Esbjug, coming under intense pressure from Lynk & Co driver Mattias Andersson, but managed to stay ahead.
“It was an awesome race and fourth is a great result which the entire team has worked hard for,” said Esbjug.
“We started the weekend with a car that was unstable and ended the weekend with a car that really worked well. This has been our best weekend so far of the season and I hope we can carry this with us to the final two races.”
Esbjug is placed sixth in the junior standings, a single point behind fellow Norwegian driver Marius Solberg Hansen.
