Suspected turbo issue leaves Esteban Guerrieri in “full attack mode”

Despite looking like a strong candidate for the FIA WTCR pole position at Vallelunga, Esteban Guerrieri finished Q3 in fifth and last position.

The Honda driver analysed the issues with his engineers, and they suspect a turbo-related issue.

“We think we had an issue with the turbo,” said the Argentinian to TouringCarTimes.

“We are looking at it with the engineers and are waiting to work on it with the engine boys. Obviously it came at the worst time, in Q3, when you really don’t want it, but that’s how cars work sometimes.”

The Honda driver believes the Vallelunga track allows opportunities to overtake, which he is determined to exploit as much as possible in two aggressive races.

“I think it’s a track that allows fighting and has opportunities to overtake,” said Guerrieri.

“You can also play a bit with the strategy with this heat, manage the tyres and try to attack a little bit more towards the end. I will surely be 100% aggressive, with my situation in the championship I can take risks and I will, so it will be full attack mode tomorrow.”
