Adrien Tambay claims Pool Furious pole position
Cupra EKS driver Adrien Tambay claimed pole position in the a competitive Pool Furious qualifying session at the Hungaroring, with lap times improving constantly until the chequered flag.
The session, split into two ten-minute parts, was marked by the high air and track temperatures, with tyre strategy key for the entire field.
Tambay was the fastest driver in the combined results, with a best lap time of 1:54.687, with Romeo Ferraris’ Bruno Spengler in second place thanks to his time in the Q1, 0.219 seconds behind.
Tom Blomqvist set the third fastest time in the second Cupra e-Racer, three-tenths off the pace, followed by Hyundai’s Jean-Karl Vernay, at the wheel of the Veloster N ETCR, 0.324 seconds behind Tambay.
Vernay’s team-mate Norbert Michelisz was fifth, with Luca Filippi, driving the second Giulia ETCR, closing the classification in sixth place, nine-tenths off the pace.
Tambay, Spengler and Blomqvist will start in this order in the Pool Furious quarter final 1, with Vernay, Michelisz and Filippi in turn for the pool’s second quarter final.
The ETCR returns to the track at 14:55 CEST for the Pool Fast quarter final 1.
