Goodyear has “not identified manufacturing issues” following Nürburgring debacle
Goodyear has conducted a technical tyre analysis after the FIA World Touring Car Cup race weekend at the Nürburgring, stating it has not found any manufacturing issues.
The races at the German circuit were cancelled shortly before the scheduled start due to a multitude of tyre issues during free practice and qualifying.
A statement was issued by Goodyear today, confirming that no manufacturing issues were found but that an alternative tyre specification could be introduced for the race weekend at the Hungaroring this weekend.
“Goodyear has been working closely with the customer racing departments of all the manufacturers participating in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup to identify solutions for the coming Race of Hungary.
“The comprehensive technical analysis conducted since the cancellation of Race 1 and Race 2 at the Race of Germany has not identified any manufacturing issues with the specification. A decision on whether to use the planned specification or an alternative specification used in other championships will be made in the coming days.”
An additional test session has been preliminarily scheduled for 14:10 CEST at the Hungaroring on Friday connected to tyre evaluation.
