Robert Dahlgren: “I had to push hard to stay ahead”

Robert Dahlgren claimed pole position, broke the lap record and won the first STCC TCR Scandinavia race of 2022 at Ljungbyhed, beating main rival Tobias Brink by two seconds.

But the reigning champion says it was not as easy as it might have looked like.

“I had to push from lap one to 18,” said Dahlgren to TouringCarTimes.

“Tobias [Brink] was close throughout the race and there was no time for me to relax and start to save the tyres.”

The PWR Racing is the hunted driver this year after a record-breaking 2021 season, something Dahlgren says is not bothering him.

“That’s not on my radar at all, I’m keeping my head down and just focus on delivering strong results,” said Dahlgren.

“And we got a perfect start to the season with maximum points and we’re going to build on that for the coming round in Skellefteå which is my home race.”
