Tobias Brink goes below lap record in first Ljungbyhed test

Tobias Brink went below the lap record and headed an Audi 1-2-3 in the first STCC TCR Scandinavia test of the Ljungbyhed season opener, a session held in both dry and very wet conditions.

Brink lapped the two-kilometre circuit in 51.322, just below two tenths of a second under the lap record of Robert Dahlgren.

The Brink Motorsport headed fellow Audi driver Andreas Bäckman of Lestrup Racing Team, with 0.484 seconds separating the two.

Brink’s team-mate Hugo Nerman was third fastest, just 86 hundredths from Nerman.

Mattias Andersson was the fastest non-Audi driver in fourth position behind the wheel of his MA:GP-prepared Lynk & Co 03 TCR, eight tenths from Brink.

Oliver Söderström claimed the fifth fastest time ahead of reigning champion Robert Dahlgren or PWR Racing, one second from the top time.

STCC newcomer Marius Solberg Hansen made a strong first appearance in the championship with seventh position, right ahead of Cupra debutee Axel Bengtsson.

Rain hit the circuit an hour into the sessions with no improvement of lap times set after that.

15 cars took part in the test as Johan Lund will miss the first race weekend due to a delayed delivery of his Audi RS 3 LMS II.

Next up for the STCC field is the first free practice session, starting at 14:00 CEST tomorrow.
