Bumper field set for TCR Italy opener
More than 30 cars will do battle on track at Monza this weekend when the new TCR Italy championship bursts into life.
With defending champion Antti Buri not part of the entry for the new campaign, 2021 runner-up Kevin Ceccon headlines the 32 drivers looking to fight for honours this time around having agreed a deal to remain with Aggressive Italia.
The Italian faces a huge challenge however from fellow Hyundai driver Neils Langeveld as well as three-time champion Salvatore Tavano – who will be seeking to add to his already impressive resume at the wheel of his Cupra.
MM Motorsport pair Marco Iannotta and Carlo Tamburini will fly the flag for Honda alongside the two ALM-entered cars of Mattias Vahtel and Ruben Volt, with the entry for Monza also including a number of guest drivers.
Jack Young will also race a Honda for MM Motorsport, with the RC2 Junior Team and Team Clairet also lodging entries for the weekend.
The Monza season opener will also mark the debut for the FIAT Tipo as a fully-homologated TCR car, with Jonathan Giacon chasing points for the first time.
Five cars that will compete for the DSG Trophy, comprising of three Audis and two Cupras, feature on the entry.
