Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky confirms no 2022 STCC programme with PWR Racing
Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky has confirmed that she is not going to race for PWR Racing in the 2022 STCC TCR Scandinavia season.
“It recently became clear that I will not continue in the STCC with PWR, so I am looking for other programmes, because I want to race more than the five Extreme E events I currently have,” said Åhlin-Kottulinsky to TT.
The 29-year-old was recently confirmed for the 2022 Extreme E season with Rosberg X Racing, switching from JBXE that she raced for last year alongside her STCC programme with PWR Racing.
Last year saw Åhlin-Kottulinsky completing her best-ever STCC season, finishing second overall behind team-mate and champion Robert Dahlgren, having scored two victories and eleven podium finishes.
“I won’t drive for PWR. We have taken this decision for this year, then I’m not sure what the future will offer, but we won’t race together this year,” said Åhlin-Kottulinsky, who made her STCC debut with PWR Racing in 2017.
PWR Racing meanwhile does not rule out that Åhlin-Kottulinsky could be a part of the team this year during the STCC weekends, albeit in a yet to be defined role.
“We’re currently in talks regarding a solution that will still see Mikaela working together with us during the STCC weekends, but we can’t comment further on that topic currently,” said Daniel Haglöf, PWR Racing co-owner, to TouringCarTimes.
“We are very happy with the cooperation with Mikaela and what we have achieved so far, but I believe the best is yet to come.”
