STCC expands 2022 calendar as Ljungbyhed returns
The STCC TCR Scandinavia calendar has been expanded from five to six races at Ljungbyheds Motorbana returns with a new race format.
Ljungbyhed is going to host the season opener on June 3-4 and will feature a single “super pole” qualifying format and a single race, while the rest of the races will maintain last year’s format of three heats per weekend.
“The pre-season tests will be held just before the season opener in Ljungbyhed and with a more compact race format we will get a start to the season that will suit the teams better,” said Micke Bern, managing director of STCC.
The other dates in the calendar have been reshuffled, with the Skellefteå Drivecenter Arena moved from the last weekend in July to June 17-18.
Knutstorp has been moved from opening the season to hosting the third race of the year on July 22-23.
Gelleråsen Arena keeps its original date in August while Anderstorp has been moved one week to September 10-11.
The Mantorp Park season finale date remains unchanged for the first weekend in October.
“We have optimised the calendar with more races in a tighter schedule from June to October,” said Micke Bern.
“With this change, we will get a solid spread of the races, both in geographically and in terms of timing.”
