Münnich Motorsport requested new investigation of Monteiro/Ehrlacher clash
Münnich Motorsport submitted a petition for a new investigation of the incident between Tiago Monteiro and WTCR points leader Yann Ehrlacher in the first race at Pau-Arnos.
The two came together during braking into Turn 2, sending Monteiro into the barriers and retirement while Ehrlacher was able to continue to finish the race in eighth position.
The stewards deemed the clash a racing incident, issuing no penalties:
“No driver was predominantly to blame for this action. Therefore, the Stewards consider that no further action is appropriate in this case,” read the decision.
The Honda team was however not satisfied with the decision and filed a petition for a new review, a review that was rejected:
“There is no significant and relevant new element which was unavailable to the party seeking the review at the time of the decision concerned.
“The Stewards consider that the Competitior concerned has produced all the data as a new element. However, the Stewards consider that this new element is neither significant nor relevant. Therefore, the decision #12 of the 2021 WTCR Race of France will not be reviewed,” read the statement.
