Niels Langeveld tops opening practice of Barcelona finale
Dutch driver Niels Langeveld of Sébastien Loeb Racing was the fastest driver in the first free practice session at Barcelona, host of the 2021 TCR Europe season finale.
Langeveld set a best lap time of 1:55.411, ahead of PSS Racing Team’s Franco Girolami, six-tenths off the pace. Brutal Fish’s Martin Ryba, also driving a Honda Civic Type R TCR, was third, 0.873 seconds behind the Dutch driver.
Teddy Clairet, driving a Peugeot 308TCR of Team Clairet, finished in fourth position, ahead of Viktor Davidovski of PSS Racing Team, with the Macedonian 0.966 seconds off the pace.
Jack Young of Brutal Fish was sixth, ahead of Sébastien Loeb Racing’s Sami Taoufik, 1.022 seconds from P1.
Audi drier Nicolas Baert was eight ahead of Honda driver Isidro Callejas, 1.156 seconds behind Langeveld.
Mat’o Homola, driving a Hyundai i30 N TCR from Janik Motorsport, completed the top ten.
The second free practice session at Barcelona is scheduled for 16:20 CEST.
