Philipp Eng replaces Stefano Coletti at Romeo Ferraris
Philipp Eng is going to race for Romeo Ferraris in the PURE ETCR round at Copenhagen on August 7-8, replacing Stefano Coletti.
“I am really looking forward to race the Giulia ETCR by Romeo Ferraris in the PURE ETCR,” said Eng.
“The car looks amazing, and I can’t wait to drive it for the first time, to test it and get prepared for our first race together in Copenhagen. I’m very excited to race in this new series and I’m sure it will be a successful experience for both sides.”
The 31-year-old has previously raced for BMW in the DTM and has claimed the 2015 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and Carrera Cup Germany titles.
“I am delighted to welcome Philipp Eng to our team for the PURE ETCR project,” said Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris operations manager.
“He is a racer that I have highly valued since we were both racing for BMW, and I am sure he will contribute a lot to our project. We don’t have much time before Copenhagen to introduce him to the car, but the fact that the Danish circuit will be newt for everyone will certainly level the field.”
Coletti, currently placed 12th and last overall, drove the first two PURE ETCR events for Romeo Ferraris.
“I thank Romeo Ferraris for the opportunity granted me so far to be able to take part in an history-making event such as the start of the first electric championship for touring cars. Our collaboration relationship comes to an end after the first two rounds,” said Coletti.
“I thank Stefano Coletti for his contribution to the Giulia ETCR by Romeo Ferraris project. He was one of the first to get on board this car in Vallelunga when it took its first steps, and this will remain forever in the history of this project. We wish him the best for the future of his career,” said Cerruti.
