Dan Rowbottom: “I showed I deserve this seat”
Dan Rowbottom said he felt he had shown he is worthy of his seat with Team Dynamics after securing his maiden BTCC podium on a fine weekend at Brands Hatch.
Rowbottom produced a star turn in qualifying on Saturday after securing pole position for the first time but an awful start when the opening race kicked off saw him plummet down the order.
Despite that, he recovered well with a series of impressive overtakes to come back through to third spot, giving him a first top three finish in the series.
Fourth place in race two after he ran wide whilst dicing for the lead with Tom Oliphant followed before eleventh in race three, but Rowbottom admitted he was delighted with the weekend as a whole.
“It’s been fantastic, and I think I’ve really landed in the BTCC this weekend,” he said. “Scoring pole on Saturday was an amazing feeling and I was over the moon with it, but I think I was a bit nervous at the start of race one as I’ve never been that far forwards before.
“I didn’t really know how to attack the start, although I now know more revs is the answer! We came back well to get P3 having lost a load of places, and had it not been for a little bit of an incident in race two, we could have had another podium finish at least.
“Race three was a challenge in the pack but overall I can take a lot of confidence from this weekend. I feel I have showed I deserve to be in the car, and it shows what you can do with a lot of hard work.”
