Andy Wilmot, Hugo Cook to rejoin TCR UK field from Oulton Park
Andy Wilmot and Hugo Cook will both return to the Touring Car Trophy incorporating TCR UK grid for the second half of the season.
The pair contested the season opener at Silverstone before missing round two at Castle Combe, but will be back in action at Oulton Park in July. Neither will compete in round three at Brands Hatch.
Wilmot took on a guest drive in the DW Racing Astra for the season opener, but will now return to action at the wheel of a Maximum Motorsport-run Cupra TCR.
“After racing the Astra at Silverstone earlier in April, I knew from that moment on I wanted to race a TCR car and be competitive. I’m therefore grateful to Stewart Lines of Maximum Motorsport for providing me the team’s Cupra for the second half of the season,” he said.
“Having seen the development of the Goodyear Touring Car Trophy and the competitiveness of the TCR grid this year, I want to use this year to familiarise myself with the car and get a measure of the competition before coming back in 2022 for a full season and going for glory!”
Cook meanwhile will be at the wheel of an Audi RS3 LMS entered by his family-run team when he returns to action.
“I really liked the shorter-length Touring Car Trophy races, in comparison with the endurance format of those in the Britcar series,” he said
“Having finished fifth in the second of the two races, I feel that with a little more seat time I could compete at the front of the field, so my aim is get onto the podium before the end of the season and perhaps challenge for a win.”
