Nicola Baldan confirmed for WTCR and TCR Italy programme

Nicola Baldan will drive a full TCR Italy season for Target Competition this year, including two World Touring Car Cup outings at Adria and Hungaroring.

“We face a very challenging commitment,” said Baldan.

“I love TCR competition and wanted to come back full time to it. Having the opportunity to do so with a professional team like Target and with the Hyundai cars gives me extra motivations. I couldn’t ask for more.”

The Italian is going to drive a Hyundai Elantra in the WTCR and a Hyundai i30 in TCR Italy.

“Our goal is clear in TCR Italy, resuming the path that was disrupted by my incident at Imola three years ago and reclaiming the title,” said Baldan.

“On top of this, the opportunity of joining WTCR for two events is a dream that comes true. I have been waiting this for years, I know it will be very tough, but it’s a unique chance that couldn’t be missed.”

The 38-year-old took part in selected TCR Italy and TCR Europe races last year alongside a full Porsche Carrera Cup Italia season where he finished eighth overall.
